From Bark to Bowl: Justin Davies Turns Trees Into Ice Cream
With a hand-carved spoon to match.

Justin Davies wants to know what trees tastes like. By turning them into ice cream (with a matching bowl and spoon to boot), he can savor the gingery notes of a magnolia, the citrusy tartness of spruce tips, and the unfortunate notes of "boy's dorm room," courtesy of the infamous Bradford pear.
On a recent episode of Milk Street Radio, Justin sat down with Chris Kimball to share his adventures in crafting desserts out of trees. Here, we get a glimpse into his process.
